Why do we decorate like we do?

I tease my Dad and tell him it is because growing up we didn't decorate but that isn't reason. Besides I wouldn't have traded the Christmas vacations to Florida and Syracuse to see family.

As an adult I didn't decorate heavily but always wanted to equal a Griswold Christmas (National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation). In the early 90's I read about Computer Animation of Christmas lights but didn't have the means at the time to progress in that direction. After a couple of visits to Disney World at Christmas time, the decorating bug really bit me and slowly but surely our display has grown and shows no end of increasing in size.

We moved to Florida in 2004 and things really exploded. In fact our display has become a gift to the community and a Christian mission. And we have gotten nothing but praise and thanks from the community.

And yes, this is a Christian Mission. God said "let there be light!" So we had to. We strongly believe that Christ should not be removed from Christmas.

Christmas celebrates the most significant event in history, the birth of Jesus Christ. Too many people have forgotten that fact and have turned Christmas into an event to shop, get gifts, Santa Clause and other traditions and push aside the true reason for the season.
